Project Brief:

Construction of a new detached steel frame building incorporating a sports hall with changing rooms, and a Sixth Form centre, including common room and classrooms.

The conceptual design included a curved roof which was to support a “seedum” covered green roof and involved a low maintenance plant (seedum) being set into a growing medium laid on a profiled metal deck. The curve of the roof started with a high point above the sports hall curving downwards towards the single storey eaves along the Southern boundary so that the neighbouring residential properties were screened from the building by the “green” aspect of the roof design.
The design also called for high level clerestory windows for the full length of the sports hall elevation with large glazed areas to the sports hall gable ends.

Upon completion the building was officially opened by HRH the Duke of York.
