| Project Brief: | The projects involves the construction of a mix of residential units, a sports hall and administration block adjacent to an existing nine storey tower which is to be retained and refurbished as part of the works. The site is located on an infilled former clay pit with up to 28 metres of made ground. Additionally the site is in an area of coal mining activity and a mine shaft is located directly beneath one of the residential blocks. The superstructure to the residential blocks are to utilise a specialist closed panel structural timber system, whilst the remaining blocks will be constructed with steel frame. Overall the project is aiming to achieve a BREEAM “outstanding” rating. |
